Since October 2020, I have thoroughly enjoyed being a member of the North Northamptonshire shadow authority's Climate Change Task and Finish group chaired by Cllr Lora Lawman.
I have been working with Councillor colleagues on a cross-party basis to formulate a strategy for how the new North Northamptonshire unitary council can enhance our environment and tackle climate change.
As well as hearing from council officers and experts, we also received a large amount of positive ideas and contributions from members of the public and all this has helped to shape a very comprehensive strategy that I believe will make North Northamptonshire Council a model of climate leadership.
The new strategy will go forward to the Shadow Executive Committee for a final decision later this month, after which I hope it can be embedded into the new council's policy making.
